Expect to see many more of these...combined efforts of the VCE partnership(that's VMware, Cisco and EMC). If you were at Cisco Live! in late June you saw the Keynote where these products were demo'd together.

Are you considering deploying Powerpath VE? This has to be the hottest topic among my customers.
I even had one the other week that INSISTED that VMware upgrade them to vSphere in order to get this functionality.

Their officially called "Solution guides, but I affectionately refer to them as "Bibles", since pretty much any answer you'll want is contained within these, if you are willing to look....

One of the biggest pain points with any customers that run Fibre Channel environments with VMware in particular, from the smallest customer, to the largest, is the fact that often path management can be problematic, as it is both manual and only leverages a single active path.

I also posted this fantastic demo on how to install Powerpath non-disruptively for vSphere...remember, you'll need to upgrade to vSphere to get this functionality(just like if you wanted to leverage Cisco Nexus 1000v).

Although Wade's VMware Specialist team in the America's often get accused of going above and beyond, the ANZ team (that's Australia and New Zealand team) certainly do their fair share of fantastic demos too.

It's been a busy few weeks with the vSphere launch and with all the EMC VMware Training Academies.

1) A short Avamar Demo which shows how simple and easy Avamar backup works with VMware. You want to use this tool to optimize file level backups. Source based deduplication is the way to go with VMware, because it ultimately results in higher server consolidation ratios than traditional methods.

On primary storage, EMC has leveraged deduplication across its entire portfolio for a number of years. However whether on EMC or any other vendor, deduplication on primary storage, or target based deduplication, simply doesn't produce the amount of deduplication ratios as source.

For backing up VMware environments, many of our customers are saying source-based deduplication brings the greatest return, providing them in some cases up to 500:1 deduplication, but even more importantly for some customers, the ability to consolidate more VM's onto their ESX servers. Finally, what we find is rarely do customers have their VMware infrastructure in a single data center, but they have smaller VMware environments in remote offices.
As a result, most of my customers acknowledge that source based, global deduplication strategy is appropriate.
